Reconciliation Pole: Honouring a Time Before, During and After Canada’s Indian Residential Schools
UBC has partnered with a private donor to commission the carving of a totem pole that recognizes the complex aspects of reconciliation related to Canadian Indian residential schools. This 55-foot cedar pole was carved by James Hart, Haida master carver and hereditary chief.
Reconciliation Pole will be installed in the manner of a traditional Haida pole raising on Saturday April 1, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Main Mall and Agronomy Road. All are welcome to attend and participate in the event. For more information visit www.ceremonies.ubc.ca/reconciliation-pole
